Announcing Opportunity: On-Chain Options

Opportunity

A big move rarely happens in a straight line. A trader can have a view on where a market is going and still be shaken out before that view has time to play out. We started Opportunity with a question: what if traders could choose how long to give a price thesis, see the cost upfront, and know exactly what they stand to lose?

On September 14, 2026, we launched Opportunity and published our first website at opportunitytrade.com. It was the first public expression of our vision for onchain options.

Announcing Opportunity, a vision for on-chain options

Catch the move. Survive the wick.

That is the ambition behind our proposed fully paid option-buying path. A temporary price swing would not liquidate the purchased right before expiry. The trader chooses an expiry and pays the premium upfront. The right can remain open while the market moves, giving the thesis time to unfold.

That room to wait has a price. The purchased option can lose value or expire worthless, and the full premium and fees can be lost. We want those tradeoffs to be as clear as the potential payoff.

More ways to make a move

The first website introduced three possibilities we want to build around:

  • Speculate: Take a view on a move and give it a chosen time to play out.
  • Protect: Explore an option that could help address risk in an asset holding, with its cost and coverage in view.
  • Collect: Commit collateral to write an option and receive a premium while taking on a defined obligation and capital risk.

This project launch made our direction public. We are building toward options whose rights, costs, expiry, and obligations are understandable before anyone acts. The website launch did not announce a live trading product, supported assets, deployed contracts, liquidity, or an audit. We will share those milestones with evidence as the work advances.
